CHIEF FIRE OFFICER TOURS REGIONS

The Chief fire Officer has toured some Regions to familiarise himself with the situation and conditions in which the fireman works. Since assuming office barely a year ago, Dr. Gaisie has visited the Central, Volta, Tema, and the Brong-Ahafo Regions. During the visits, he met opinion leaders, Chiefs, and District/Municipal/Metropolitan Chief Executives and urged them to support the Service to run effectively. He indicated that the Service has rolled out proactive and pragmatic measures in managing fire disasters in the Country. Dr.

JUNE 3RD DISASTER

In the early evening of June 3, 2015 there was a rainfall in Accra that lasted some few hours. The rain, which started as any normal rainfall was intense, affecting most parts of Accra but wrecking a heavy toll at the Kwame Nkrumah Circle and its environs. As pictures of the havoc began to show on television, the entire nation was thrown into a state of shock and mourning when it emerged that the flood had forced the release of fuel (petrol) onto the surface of the flood water and thereby starting a huge fire.

NIC DONATES TO GNFS

Accra, Nov. 20, 2015 GNA – The National Insurance Commission (NIC), has donated items worth GH₵ 203,000.00 to the Ghana National Fire Service (GNFS) to beef-up the resources of the service. The items would aid the fire task force in their field of work to protect and save more lives and properties and the2015/2016 anti -bush fire campaign. The items include 800 overalls, 40 boxes of crocodile machetes, 493 Wellington boots and some educative car stickers.

GNFS LAUNCHES 2015 FIRE SAFETY WEEK

Over the years, fire out breaks have caused a lot of damage to individuals , corporate institutions and the society as a whole resulting in the loss of property running into several millions of Cedis and more importantly, precious human lives. The occurrences of these fires cut across all sectors of the Ghanaian economy. In the year 2014, the Ghana National Fire Service recorded Four Thousand, Seven Hundred and Twelve fire outbreaks with domestic fires recording Two Thousand and Forty Seven (2,047), the highest among all categories.
