The Ghana National Fire Service has added its voice to the concerns of Ghana Standard Authority’s observations about inferior cables in the Ghanaian market.

Management wishes to advice the general public to avoid buying such inferior electrical cable for their project.

The Service has noted that a lot of the fire outbreaks occurring in our homes, industry and offices are as a result of these inferior cables used in wiring of buildings.

Fire safety is shared responsibility and therefore, the public should as a matter of urgency desists from patronizing such cables from the market because they have the potential of causing fires.

It is advisable to purchase products that have been approved by the Ghana Standard Authority or seek advice from qualified professionals to avoid any incident of fire.

The Fire Service is committed to providing a sustained and continues education on issues that compromise the safety of the public to enhance a fire free and safe environment.

We wish to further advice the public to pay attention to our numerous fire safety education programmes on the various media and in communities to ensure that lives and property are protected.
